Needs From: United Way of Anderson County

Aging with Pride is a volunteer-powered community initiative building a more affirming, connected, and resource-rich region for LGBTQ+ older adults, caregivers and families. This event is designed to connect people with trusted resources, practical education, and ongoing support. Volunteers are the heart of this work, helping create a welcoming experience and strengthening long-term community connections beyond the event. 

We need:

Would love to have Oak Ridge dance team and/or cheerleaders to be greeters and welcomers - bring pom poms, etc. and help creative a positive and supportive atmosphere

This event is held every other month on the Second Saturday beginning in March 2026 at the United Way Office in Oak Ridge. United Way is partnering with Family Justice Center to host this event and needs a person willing to serve as event host - unlock the building, make sure the room is ready for the event, set-up some simple snacks, etc.

Bartenders for the night needed- We are seeking volunteers to assist with ID checks, beer sales, and tent management for our beer tent throughout the summer. 

All events are at A.K. Bissell Park in Oak Ridge.

Our Resource Volunteers serve as someones direct line of comfort in difficult situations. These volunteers connect individuals in need wiht the community resources that can help them. Using our resource guide, this role listens with care, assesses the need, and guides callers to appropriate local services- whether it's food assistance, housing support, or health resources. While this can be done remotely, we welcome volunteers who can come to the office for an hour or two - once or twice a week to foster connection and collaboration. This volunteer opportunity can be flexible with your schedule however, this is better suited for someone looking for a long term flexible volunteer commitment than a one time service opportunity.
